Emma Mashilwane CA(SA), RA, MBA

Emma is a seasoned chartered accountant and is the co-founder and CEO of MASA Group of Companies which includes MASA Risk Advisory Services Proprietary Limited and MASA Chartered Accountants Incorporated. Both entities were established in 2018.
She has more than 15 year’s experience in both external and internal audit. She has extensive experience leading Internal Audit, External Audi and Advisory teams at various multinational companies both in the public and private sectors. Her extensive industry exposure includes Logistics, Mining, Financial Services (including Insurance), Retail, FMCG, Real Estate Management, Healthcare (Medical Aid Schemes and Pharmaceuticals) and Non-Profit Organisations.
Emma serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of Capitec Bank and Tiger Brands. Her board roles include serving on Audit and Risk Committees, Social & Ethics Committee as well as Investment Committees. She is the chairperson of Capitec Bank’s Social & Ethics Committee and was previously the chairperson of the Tiger Brands Audit Committee until February 2021 as well Remuneration Committee of Famous Brands until July 2021. She was previously a member of the board of Total Coal SA where she chaired the Audit Committee and the Social & Ethics Committee.
Emma holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Wits Business School in addition to her BCom Honours (University of KwaZulu Natal) and BCompt (UNISA) degrees. In addition, Emma completed the Global Executive Development Programme in 2015 and the Banking Board Leadership Programme in 2020, both through GIBS. She is a member in good standing of various professional organisations including SAICA, IRBA, IIA, IRMSA, IoDSA, ABASA, AWCA and The Ethics Institute of South Africa.
Emma was a finalist in the Business Women’s Association 2017 Gauteng Regional Business Achiever Awards for the Professional Category and in the Standard Bank Top Women in Finance 2020 where she was acknowledged as “Highly Commendable”. She was awarded the ‘Business Woman Executive of the Year’ award at the 2021 ABASA Women Leading Conference Recognition Wards.
